L'accord ciel ouvert sur le transport aérien entre l'UE et les Etats-Unis est entré en vigueur le 30 mars 2008. Pour la première fois, les compagnies aériennes européennes pourront desservir sans restriction, au départ de tout aéroport de l'UE, n'importe quelle ville américaine. Cet accord aura pour effet d'intensifier la concurrence et de faire baisser le prix des vols à destination des Etats-Unis, a déclaré Jacques Barrot, vice-président de la Commission européenne chargé des transports.
