La Bosnie Herzégovine, l'Italie, les Pays-Bas, la Slovénie, l'Afrique du sud, l'Angola, l'Egypte, Madagascar, l'Inde, l'Indonésie, les Philippines, le Qatar, la Bolivie et le Nicaragua ont été élus par l'Assemblée générale, le 17 mai 2007, membres du Conseil des droits de l'homme. Quatorze sièges étaient à pourvoir pour seize pays : le Danemark et la Biélorussie ne siègeront donc pas au conseil des droits de l'homme. En effet, le bilan de la Biélorussie en matière des droits de l'homme est jugé, selon l'organisation "human rights watch" (HRW), effroyable.
