Le Conseil des ministres de l'UE est parvenu à un accord politique sur un code des douanes communautaire modernisé. Ce code a pour but de simplifier et de rationaliser les procédures et processus douaniers au bénéfice des autorités douanières et des opérateurs. Il s'inscrit dans le cadre de la réforme globale de la Commission visant à créer un nouvel environnement douanier électronique.
