Vendredi 29 juin 2007, le Comité permanent de l'Assemblée populaire nationale de Chine a adopté une loi visant à améliorer les droits juridiques de protection des employés. Le texte, qui doit entrer en vigueur le 1er janvier 2008, prévoit un renforcement des sanctions, notamment financières, à l'encontre des fonctionnaires qui manqueraient à leurs devoirs en nuisant gravement aux intérêts des travailleurs, et oblige les entreprises à signer des contrats à durée indéterminée avec leurs employés qui travaillent depuis dix ans...
