Le 23 juillet 2008, le Cap-Vert deviendra le 153ème membre de l'OMC : l'organisation a annoncé le 23 juin 2008 son acceptation de l'ensemble des textes relatifs à son accession. Le Cap-Vert négocie son accession à l'OMC depuis 1999 et le groupe de travail a conclu plus de sept ans de négociations le 6 décembre 2007.
